This Tuesday Talk is on overhyped books. What do you think of them?
Ever read a book that didn’t live up to the hype?

I tend to avoid overhyped books. Every time I’ve read, or attempted to read, an overhyped book, I’ve been disappointed. I’ve tried to read Life of Pi twice (never made it past page 50). I read Twilight, 50 Shades, Bridges of Madison County and was disappointed by all of them. Average or sub-par writing with little new ground being broken.
Seems like a lot of people have that happen. I guess I’ve been lucky in that I’ve really enjoyed most of them. I like what it does for the book industry, though! And Life of Pi gets MUCH better after page 100. You gotta keep reading!
